Join our first Learning Conversation on 8/16!

The Contra Costa Network of Care, in partnership with the Alliance to End Abuse, invites you to the launch of Learning Conversations – ongoing virtual gatherings you can drop into based on topics you’d most like to explore in community with other trauma-informed practitioners across the county. Our first Learning Conversation will be on August 16, from 1-2pm.

We see these Learning Conversations kind of like a book club, where the “book” is a resource we’d like to unpack and reflect on with each other, and the club isn’t too big of a commitment—folks can come when they can, participate however they'd like. Given the intensity of the past year and a half, we thought “Collectively Taking Care,” an online module by Families Thrive, would be a nourishing and helpful place to start. Here’s a teaser:

Vikki Reynolds (she/her) offers an approach to thinking about vicarious trauma or burnout with an ethic of solidarity and collective sustainability (as opposed to simply self-care). Vikki asks us to consider, “How can we serve to shoulder each other up in this work?”

Sign up for the first Learning Conversation here.

... And in preparation, dive into the Collectively Taking Care Module from Families Thrive here. You can stay up to date with future Learning Conversations and events by joining the Contra Costa Network of Care online hub. There, you can also find virtual spaces to reflect on and share what you’re learning, as well as make suggestions for what the next Learning Session should be about.

Hope to see you on August 16 (and on the online hub)!
